Restore a high gloss finish to a stone tile floor?

I have been asked to help with a travertine type tiled floor, it has gone dull and doesn't look clean anymore. Ideally we are after as high gloss finish as possible, can anyone offer advice on either which sealer/polish to use or do I need to fine sand and polish the floor like you would for car bodywork? thank you
