I've goosed a few TBH - one winter when I was off ill for quite a few weeks I made the mistake of leaving them in the van, almost discharged, in sub-zero temperatures. That tend to kill batteries. There were also a couple that got cooked through being overworked and run red hot (in a hurry to get a job finished - 1 was felled by a recip. saw, the other by a 152mm holesaw into composite roofing) - which is why I'm now on newer MakStar batteries and "D" series tools which have built-in protection against this sort of abuse. Batteries and tools made in the last 4 or 5 years have all had protection circuitry built-in, so a lot less "flaky". In any case it was the charger being over cautious which did most of the damage and flagged batteries as bad rather than the batteries themselvesRossl1985 wrote:ive heard a few people say that the LXT batteries dont last very long but mine have been going for 5 years and are still very strong and charge times are good which is a plus, dont let the li-ion batteries go completely flat and they last well
What is your take on the quality of Makita (batteries)?
