Hi all
I am fitting a kitchen, worktops are in now so I want to get the hob fitted.
I'm using a gas hob that I removed from another kitchen that was being refitted in my friends house as it was in good shape but he wanted to change the colour
When I removed it from the old kitchen worktop there was a putty sort of material between the hob and the edge of the worktop, sort of looked like blu tac, a lot of it was quite brittle and fell off so it went in the bin.
I've searched online but I cant really find a replacement for this material, there are some for sale on ebay but they're really expensve like £10+ and mention the brands of sepcific hob manufacturers
I'm going to get a gas safe registered tradesman in to connect up the hob but im wondering what I should supply for them to seal it to the worktop, would a tube of fire resistant silicone do the trick instead? e.g. https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense- ... tid=268302
Thanks in advance

I remember when I did a similar job when I replaced our worktops it was the devils own job to find a gasket or suitable material. In the end I bought a strip similar to this and it worked fine. See https://www.cookerspareparts.com/cooker ... obs/hs-540 of course VAT and delivery bumps it up, but still under a tenner.
