what is the distance to set interior door hinges?

i have to hang a couple of interior doors but i don't know the were to place the hinges is there a specific distance for them to sit?

I've aleays put them 7" from the top and 9" from the bottom, but I'm sure someone will have other ideas!

From the top of the top hinge to the top of the door 150mm
From the bottom of the bottom hinge to the bottom of the door 225mm

Or if going into existing frames use the old hinge cut outs
There would be less trouble in the world

When I got taught my "Not Very Qualifieds" it was 6" from top n 9" from bottom, which is pretty much what "Tryanything" has put as a metric conversion.
or like he also points out use existing positions, unless your willing to patch them up and reposition new ones.
but tbh your decission.

yep 6&9 or [152.4 & 228.6 ] or 150& 225 :wink: :thumbright:

Nice to see I'm not the only one who uses 6" & 9" for hinge distances. I have seen the same distance used top and bottom and it looks crap!
