WIRING NEW LIGHTS

Post by trying Dave »

can anyone help me plese.......

I am installing two lighting systems intyo a loft. I have a basic light already running from a single switch.

However, now I would like to replace it with a two switch plate one switch to turn on two wall lights and the other switch to control a set of downlighters installed along the beams. I cannot work out how to wire the new two switch .

could anyone please assist

many thanks

Hi Gasspark, no I have temporarily fitted a single switch to control temporary lights whilst I was working in my loft. Now I have floored it all and insulated it I am now about to install two wall lights to run from one switch and 5 downlights to run from the second switch. both switchesd are on one plate which will replace the single switch. The wiring will not be connected to any other light other than the initial power source.

Many thanks

it depends how you have wired the existing light as to how we explain how to wire the switch.

basically, the "C" is the common and that is where the live goes.

"L1" is where you put the switch wire to the light.

"L2" can be ignored if you only intend to switch the lights from one place.
