HOW I EARTH?
Post by Handy Tyne Boy »
Can any electricians advise how I may construct a DIY interior earthling kit after applying emf shielding paint to an interior wall? Thanks.{UK}

Re: HOW I EARTH?
Taken from the web:https://emfields-solutions.com/shielding/paint.asp
Earthing/Grounding instructions (only if you have determined it needs doing)
Measure a length of wire needed to connect the painted surface to the nearest radiator or socket, plus some spare to allow it to be made secure, avoiding the danger of tripping people up or being torn from the painted surface.
Take the plastic coating off both ends of the wire.
Tape one end of the wire to the painted surface. You may want to splay the wires to get maximum contact.
Attach the other end of the wire:
To a metal part of an earth bonded radiator.
You may need to scratch away the paint off a small area to ensure wire-to-metal contact. Tape in place.
Some plumbers use plastic pipes in the radiator system. These systems will not be connected to the house earth. (You should use the second method of attaching the wire)
To the earth pin of a standard plug. Plug it into a socket and the painted area will be connected to the house earth, whether the switch is "on" or "off".

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Thoughts of Chuck McGill in better call saul spring to mind.

Re: HOW I EARTH?
A Faraday cage does not need earthing, as to taking it to an existing earth point it depends why you want it earthed? Being earthed is not the same as being bonded, in a house we bond metallic items together so they are all the same polarity. This may not be the same as the earth outside. With a TN electric supply under fault conditions bonding voltage can be very different to earth, even earth outside can have a gradient of voltage so one has to be careful with metal buildings often the reinforcing bars in the concrete base are bonded to metal structure.
On a gas plant where I worked, there was a huge resistor connecting supply earth to site earth to limit current flow, sticking in one earth rod likely 30 odd ohms is not a problem, putting in an earth mat with rods at each corner likely 0.03 ohms however can be a problem.
I know operating theatres often have special floors to stop sparks, but again these are bonded not earthed, radio hams however want a true earth, so what are you trying to do.

oh, You do realise that to stop the "RF Pollution" you will have to (since you used paint) paint all the walls and the floor and the ceiling, otherwise you really are wasting your time and paint (oh and money) since RF signals radiate outwards, and not just from smart meters. There are numerous other devices too.

Re: HOW I EARTH?
Don't waste your time and money, there is an easier solution. Get yourself down to Tesco and next to the cling film and sandwich bags you will find tin foil. Make sure it's tin foil, not aluminium, that gives yous dementia.
Take the tin foil, wrap it round your head and then start shouting inane crap about GMO's and Monsanto into your megaphone.
If you feel any side effects get some homeopathic cyanide to sort it out.

Half of those smart meters don't work anyway.
Far less dangerous than crossing the road.

Re: HOW I EARTH?
Smart meters are only very low powered devices as they run off batteries the gsm is only active when paged
you have more chance of getting hit by a bus driven by Elvis Presley than getting cancer from a smart meter,
