Insulated wallpaper? How efficient

Live in an old cottage circa 1700's with loft bedrooms but poor insulation in them, does anyone have any experience of using insulated wallpaper and is it effective? Other option is rip out plasterboard and insulate costing £££££

The thicker the insulation is, the better, so I would say "insulated wall paper" would not be my first choice.

You are wasting your time, it's simply not thick enough to have any noticeable effect.

Are we talking the 2mm thick polystyrene type of stuff? I used it many years ago on my first house . While it felt a bit warmer or rather less cold to the touch I'm not convinced it really help much in keeping the place insulated ,as said it's probably far too thin to have much efffect. The other thing was that it did make the surface more prone to damage , it would dent easily and I think there are concerns about fire safety although it is treated with retardant.
To be honest you'd be better spending the money on a set of thermals.

My dad done the whole of our house many years ago with the polystyrene, hardly noticed any difference, later on he completely insulated the loft with extremely thick insulation and we had cavity wall insulation done and they both certainly did make a difference

yes as said insulated covering will help reduce physical condensation on a surface but will make between zero and perhaps 1% difference to energy efficiency
because you still have a generally cold room with poor insulation where you need to remove excessive moisture because off poor insulation you need extraction on ventilation meaning bad heat loss through extraction or an open window

Depends how long you plan on staying. If long term, have them insulated properly and you will recoup the cost fairly quickly in energy bills. You can do most of it yourself to save on cost.

Fairly quickly? I think not. People vastly over inflate the savings made by insulation and other energy efficient work, false advertising by government and industry is rife.
