Blood diamonds is a great film, will change the way you buy jewellary forever. Is that spelt right? Its based on a true story so its even better because of that!

My oh was out of his comfort zone when he bought my engagement ring, he wanted a custom built touring bike (he was a long distance cyclist).

He doesn't buy me jewellery any more, just makes me some. It's easy when you buy the sterling silver and Murano beads and it's more personal.
He's given his last few bracelets away so these are like his creations!

If he wants to sell any and if it weighs more than 7.78 grams, it has to be hallmarked. Otherwise you fall foul of the Hallmarking Act 1973.

Has he registered a maker's mark?

He's not sold anyhing at all, it's been made as gifts for all the female relatives! It all started off as an experiment in Viking jewellery in copper first to see how easy it was to make because my eldest was studying Vikings at school, then we've progressed onto soldering his hand made jump rings and incorporating polished semi-precious rocks and silver foil lined Murano beads. A shame we couldn't go back in time and get some tips on silversmithing because my oh's ancestors were famous silver/ goldsmiths in London and you can still buy their wares on Ebay!
We've got all of the paperwork to register a hallmark at the Sheffield Assay office, costs about £50 but diy is getting in the way at the moment and the jewellery making is on a back burner with everything back in the craft box!

I'd like to have a go but after seeing this sort of thing, I'd want to do silver and polished wood jewellery.
