Damp problems

Post by Iyoung19 »

Hi all

I brought a mid terrace 3 years ago.
Every winter the windows stream with condensation, an internal wall at the base gets damp, and a spot in the corner of the bedroom ceiling gets black mould on.

I've had gutters replaced, hole in roof felt repaired, extractor put into the kitchen, passive air vents in front room, front bedroom and bathroom but I dont seem to get anywhere

The last couple of days I've been taking around 3 Kercher window vac tank fills off the windows

Does anyone now what else could be causing the problems

P.s all washing goes straight from washing machine straight into a heat pump tumble dryer

:welcomeuhm: Sounds mostly condensation. 1)what is your heating source? 2)Do you cook with gas? 3) are you double glazed?

Also do you shower? Do you have a bathroom extractor? How warm is the house kept and how many people live in it?

Not at all unusual for a well sealed house to suffer condensation problems in winter, humans produce several litres of moisture per person per day, the question is how you want to deal with it. You can ventilate and spend extra on heating or you can dehumidify and spend extra on the electricity for that. Personally I much prefer to save the expensive heat and spend a little extra on the dehumidifier, YMMV.
