Extremely Bad Damp / Mould in Inside of Exterior Walls
Hi,
Please see the extreme condition of damp and mould in the inside wall. There's a part of a room where a cardboard box is completely wet through.
Please advise on what to do. I've come across "CareBrick" but not sure their system will work as I've read negative things online.
The room above the pictured room also has mould. And patches are appearing at other points of the house as well
Thanks

What kind of ventilation do you have? How old is the property? How many People live there? How big is it?
Looks exactly like the problem we had in our first flat.

Thank you for your prompt reply. It's just got a window. This room is rarely used and is freezing.
It's an old property >100 years. 3 people living in it. End terrace.
Thanks

We have the central heating on there multiple hours a day. I've thought about getting a dehumidifier but will that be a temporary fix or will it sort the problem?
Thanks

Is the rest of the house cold too? If this room is the only one suffering then there must be a cause.
Dehumidifier will only be a permanent fix if the reason for the room being mouldy is that it isn't being used and ventilated enough. If you have an air leak or water leak then you will only be covering the root problem.

I agree with all comments above. Do you dry clothes on radiators? Do you extract steam out of the bathroom and kitchen? If you have hot humid air circulating in the house it will find the coldest place in the house to condense. Maybe it is that room and those walls where it is the best place for condensation to form. If the window in the room has a grill for ventilation, open it. and see if it makes a difference. Also if the room has heating, then shut the door so the steam finds somewhere else to condense but you still need ventilation.
