Timer light switch to a Smart Switch
Post by BillChapman »
Hi there, I need to wire timer switch to a Lightwave L21 which has an X S and L terminal. It is currently on an outside light with a timer. Don't need it to be a timer anymore but have to make sure I wire it correctly. I have attached a photo.
Any guidance gratefully received as the other lights have been fine but this one has proved to be a bit of nightmare.
Thanks,
Bill[

I do not know what the new switch looks like, or what the front of what you have looks like, could you please post a couple more pictures, and maybe a link to the new switch (As well as a picture or two of it)

First of all where is this timer? The switch you have posted a nice picture of is just a double pole switch, no timer, and you said you don't need / want a timer. (I am thinking the timer my be in the light)
Can you also post a link to the correct instructions, your new switch is model L21 the instructions you posted a link to are for model L23 which is why they make no sense.

Timer light switch to a Smart Switch

Here is my dilema.
The instructions you have just now linked to do not have the same terminal markings as the switch you have does.
Your switch has * S L (The first symbol I don't have on my keyboard)
The instructions have * L N
So they are not the same, it is possible to guess, but get it wrong and bang, no more switch. You need to find the instructions that have the same markings as your switch. Were there no instructions with your switch when you paid for it?
