Hi,
I have a damp issue with a stone wall in a bedroom.
The back wall is external and underground, the sides are internal. The house was built on a slope and the earth sits about 7ft high on the outside of it. There is no DPC in the walls.
When we have wet weather the wall shows wet patches as shown in the images. Currently the plasterboard is dot and dabbed directly onto the wall. The water runs down the hill and the outside of the wall is usually wet. The water has never flooded the internal area. The land on outside belongs to the neighbors so I can't do anything with that.
I plan to take the plasterboard off in the summer and then either baton the wall or apply a tanking slurry. I've read about letting the wall breathe and not to apply the tanking, does this apply in the above case?
Any advice on the best way to tackle it?
Thanks

Damp on external stone wall
Have you taken legal advice about that ?
It doesn't sound right to me that a neighbour can use your house wall as a retaining wall for their soil, (which will always cause a damp problem in any property).
One day it will all be firewood.

Damp on external stone wall
No I haven't. It was like that when I bought the property. They own the land on the title deeds. It's all built up with a rockery garden etc... I'll see if I can get a picture
