space saving permanent use, power tool bench...

Post by Teabag »

theres a few in here using shed's or garages for workshops,
dont know how many of you have power tools like bench drills, bench grinders basically anything thats localised and does not need lots of room to be used. but its inconvenient to keep setting it up every time you need to use it. made one of these for my old place where I had a huge shed, but dont have one here :(
you could have these all on a round table, which has another round top on it, giving you 2 layers. they are bolted through the center with a coachbolt making the top layer able to rotate. then you just push it around to the tool you wish to use and plug it in accordingly. the weight would stop it from rotating or just use a clamp to keep secure.

I only say round in shape as it can fit nice in a corner then....

make sence?

I remember seeing one on a woodworking forum ages ago, it's a good idea. :thumbright:

you mean a turntable :thumbright:

would need to be well ballanced and no more than say 5 tools evenly spread!!!

if you put a restrictor on so it can only do exactly one revolution
then you could plug all the appliances into a 6 way socket in the centre with the cable going up to a hook in the roof supporting the cable and keeping it clear from the work area :thumbright:

I don't think I'd get the turntable in my shed!
