Cracking Plaster/Bubbling Paint. Pipe Issues?

Hello.

I have a property where plaster is cracking and paint bubbling.

This has been a problem for years but seems to have got worse.

I've taken all the broken plaster out and checked the pipes.

There are no leaks and no leak from the roof above onto the wall.

Any idea of the cause?

They are flow and return pipes for radiators. These were (poorly) fitted decades back and are not recessed in the wall enough. Is heat the issue?

I suspect it is the expansion and contraction causing the breakout especially with that left hand turn. Is there any way to rerun this section, it looks like you have a fair bit of making good to do?. One way is to make some ducting to cover the pipes to stop their expansion and contraction popping the plaster. Something like this maybe? https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Double- ... &gclsrc=ds

As DWD says or if you can get a skim over it use this it's what is often used to stop this.

I've not done the repair yet but no more help is required thanks (unless you have something to add...)
