It's a 2 way switch used on a landing, as you can see there isn't room for a standard switch.

I think they're known as Architrave switches (if that helps a search).
One day it will all be firewood.

I saw some in the Screwfix catalogue I think. Worth a look.

Ooof screwfix are pricey!
We are hoping that the old one will come up ok when cleaned, need to get the awful labels off etc. Before potentially making the problem worse though I wanted to check I could buy a replacement if needed.
Ebay came up as best price with postage etc. £4 delivered. They are only £2 on an electrical retailer site but the postage is high unless you spend a minimum amount. £4 is absolutely fine though, assuming we need it.

I normally take the switch or socket off, then clean using Jiff and a greenee
Then set aside in a warm place to throughly dry and refit

beleive or not WD40 has is uses - removing glue and labels is one of them
