Hey guys,
Firstly I'd like to reiterate that I'm DIY backward but learning slowly :D
Anyway, I've got two sections of trellis that I want to fit to, or near the top of my garden wall. I've searched Google but guides either tell you how to fit one against the face of the wall for climbing plants, or how to put it on the very top of a flat wall. My wall has coping slabs on the top with roughly a 40mm overhang. I really don't want to be drilling through those. I was going to put some 47x47mm batons on the wall first, I have those already. These would clear the coping slabs. Then use a longer piece to fit to that like a post and the trellis could screw to that. I do intend to fit a baton to the shed/cave to attach the first piece of trellis to at that end. (second pic)
Figured I'd ask on here first if that is the best way and if 'normal' screws of the right length will suffice with rawl plugs in the wall? I'm aware that the wall needs some work also. I'll be doing that first as soon as I know what needs doing.
The trellis are 1.8m long by 3ft high and there are two of them to fit end to end. Hope this makes sense. If someone could please advise the best way to do it, or if my idea would work that'd be awesome.

Not sure I quite understand what you suggest (Maybe its me?) But putting battens on a wall to overcome the hangover sounds like a plan to me.
You will need 4 inch long screws to go through the battens and into the wall (You may get away with 3 1/2 inch)
Then you can screw the trellis to the battens.
I should however point out that trellis is NOT strong and will need a few fixings, but you should only fix through its "frame / edge"

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I would fabricate some brackets using flat mild steel. Easy enough to cold bend in a vice to get the shape needed to be fixed to the wall and come out enough to clear the coping. A few holes for the wall and trellis fixing, spray over or paint to prevent rust. Have a look on Ebay for flat bar metal strip.
