How to hook up graphics card to monitor

Post by marvelsferb7 »

Hey guys I just completed my first pc build and am unsure how to hook up my graphics card to my tv. I'm currently waiting on my monitor to arrive but want to make sure everything is in working order and whatnot. My motherboard does all the checks and everything is good. I hooked up the graphics card with the HDMI port to the TV and it shows "no signal". I'm using a XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB RAW II Video Card

Many thanks

That is probably because it is a TV and as such needs to be told to look at the HDMI port for a signal.
Look at you TV remote control and look for a "source" (or similar button) and select HDMI,

Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Have you installed windows or an operating system ? on first boot it will default to either onboard graphics or the display port, depending on how the bios is setup

Hopefully your new monitor has displayport if not you will need an adapter
