Garden lighting - install PIR

Post by Blues »

I have an existing garden circuit that control 4 lights in series and want to install a PIR ( with built in light) to turn the 4 lights on as well as the built in PIR light. The existing Garden circuit Is supplied from CU/fuse box in the garage to a switch on the garden wall. The cable from the switch has 3 wires (black, blue and red plus a green/ yellow earth wire). The cable goes to a junction box also on the garden wall. Inside the junction box the 3 wires are connected to a connection block. The blue does not connect to anything and terminates in junction box. The output cable to the 4 lights in sequence has 3 wires; blue, brown and green/ yellow earth. These lighting wires are connected to the connection box as follows; input red to output brown, input black to output blue and input earth to Output earth. This works well with no issues.
We have a PIR light with built in light. The PIR has 3 wires in a block; red(live), blue (neutral) and earth. We would like to connect this PIR to existing circuit as described above so that when movement is detected the 4 existing Lights Come on as well as the built in PIR light.
The PIR install leaflet only shows standard wiring red, blue and earth in a 3 connection block, there is no mention of Line, neutral or Switched line. Also what type of cable, other than outside use, should be used to connect to existing circuit ie 2 core plus earth or 3 core plus earth and which corresponding wires should be connected to existing connection box. Many thanks for any replies or wiring diagrams in advance

So how can you use something that is not there?
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

 If gloom had a voice, it would be me.
