Hi all,
In the centre (side) of an exterior brick wall in my garden, I am planning to tile an area 99cm x 66cm (6 x 33cm sq tiles).
The tiles are 33cm x 33cm porcelain(see pic)and I have a terracotta resin cement(see pic):
My questions are :
- Do I need to do any special priming for brick(I have heard differing opinions)
- Is the resin cement adequate to adhere the tiles to the wall, or is it only for grouting the gaps? i.e do I need another solution for adhering (the bag doesn’t make it obvious)
- As the tiling will only cover a central rectangular area on the wall, do I need to create a temporary frame as a template or would I just wipe excess adhesive/cement/grout away after placing the tiles?
- If the answer to the last question is ‘you need a frame’, what would be the easiest way to create a temporary frame to the wall without leaving unsightly drill/plug holes? Velcro tape? Using a wood frame?
If it isn’t blatantly obvious from the above, I haven’t tiled anything before. I apologise for the overwhelming number of questions, but I couldn’t find answers to this specific project.
I have also shown a (badly photoshopped) picture of what I intend it to look like!
I appreciate any help.
Thanks

Tiling a central area on a brick wall Q?Q?Q?
You would need at the very least a temporary batten below the bottom row of tiles. This could be fixed into a mortar joint and the resulting holes easily disguised afterwards.
I can't help with the adhesive/grout question.

One day it will all be firewood.
