trouble inserting this downlight

hi all

im trying to insert this down light. it supposed to be an easy task but proving not to be.

i've attached a photo. long part of the clip is inside the hole. i think the second clip should fold forward or towards the brass ring. however its really stiff, and i don't want to apply too much force in case i break the clip.

the electrician that fitted these threw away the leaflet. I've tried every which way.

any ideas?

The outer spring clips that are touching the ceiling need to be bent to the same position As the longer clip so the are flush with the light body, then the entire unit pushed up through the hole.

They will be and are meant to be very stiff that's how they are designed (it's good that they are it means they are strong and will do the job they are intended for and designed to do.

When you push the body and spring clips up through the hole you will hear a "snap" that's the spring clips flipping back down and securing the light body in place, these are what stop the light from just falling back through the hole in the ceiling.

thanks, it worked, but very stiff. i also contacted the supplier. they agreed the clips are stiff, but it won't break.
they are called "butterfly clips" for future reference

Stiff is good (oooerrrr) means it's up there and not coming down without any persuasion. Also looks like it is fire rated ro the fire seal is firmly in place, leaving no gap for the fire the creep through and into the cavity.

thanks guys, yes, it was a really strong clip but it got there, i was worried i would break it
