How to save my tiling - uneven tiles! Picture included
Hello everyone
Currently getting my kitchen tiled and brought a tiler in to do the job. All looking really good so far and super pleased; however, there is one tile that is on a "bump" and is lipped against the adjacent tile. Please see picture below.
The tile is cemented down but no grouting yet. Replacing the tile would be difficult and probably counter intuitive - underneath that is the underfloor heating (loose wiring held down by, ironically, floor leveller). I daren't smash the tile incase it breaks the underfloor heating. Awkwardly, this tile is right in the center of my kitchen, so there is no avoiding it!
How can this "lipped" tile be amended so the lip is not so obvious, in the circumstances??

You can't, it needs to be lifted and set properly. Actually it needs to be replaced as you won't get it up without breaking it.

Isn't it the tilers problem?
It looks like its actually low in your picture compared to the ones either side.
Unless you can grind a high spot off and repolish to make it less noticeable I think you know it has to come out

Thank you for the replies. I accept that pulling it up is probably the only realistic way of getting the floor level, however, in doing so, I'm sh*t scared of breaking the underfloor heating underneath. I might have to live with this (literally!).

You could score the tiles with an angle grinder and use a small cold chisel ro chip away until you can get under the side of the tile.

could the underside of the tile be sand belted down to reduce the depth of the tile?

If you have a spare tile break it out as has been suggested. Carefully work from the middle to the edges chopping it out. Chisel as much dried adhesive off to ensure a new tile can sit evenly and relay it. All other solutions are a bodge, you will always see it and hate it.
