exterior security light
does anyone know how i wire a security light to the mains electric? i have never tackled anythig like this before, i am confident with wiring the whole light up etc, just not with attaching it to mains electricity. can i just run a spur off a normal plug socket or do i need to run it off a switch? i have seen it done before from a plug socket but am unsure which is easier! im not concerned with turning it off etc, so long as it works and lights my garden! someone help me please.

Hi Mark, i feel pretty confident your question will raise a few eyebrows on here
Anyways, I am not a pro but am fairly certain you will need to go via a fused, switched connector unit or FSCU which is itself spurred from a socket, this can be fitted with a small fuse for your light.
Easier option is to just bung a plug on it! This is how our previous owners' fitted their outside light, just plugged in insde the garage.
No doubt you will get more answers...
