Bathroom spotlight *HELP*

Post by ryan19 »

Hello, I’m new here and was looking for a bit of guidance/help.
I’m not the most productive when it comes to maintenance/knowledge.

I’ve recently bought a new build house and the spotlights downstairs are different to the ones in the bathroom.

Does anyone know how to change the lightbulb in one of these spotlights, the ones downstairs are a twist which then pops out of the spotlight but for some reason the bathroom ones are completely different and are giving me a bit of trouble. The last thing I want to do is pull it off the ceiling. I have tried many ways but am a bit nervous to put a lot of pressure on incase I do some damage to either the light or the ceiling.

Please any help is appreciated.
I have attached 2 photos of the spotlight in the bathroom. I’m not sure why they have rotated and I’m unsure on how to rotate the picture but they’re ceiling spotlights obvs lol

Try twisting the white bezel, with your fingers, anti-clockwise as you look up at it, with it still mounted in the ceiling. It will only need a fraction of a turn.

It's a shower type, sort of waterproof, whereas the downstairs ones aren't.

Hi there, thanks for you reply.

I have just tried to twist the white bezal and all it seems to be doing is it’s turning the whole thing and doesn’t seem to be losening up at all for some reason.

The lugs that the bezel mounts to are, for want of a better description, wedge shaped, so that the tighter it is twisted on the harder it will be to get off.

Ease the whole lamp out of the ceiling, as your second picture but further - it is held in by spring clips. As you extract it, when the springs are visible, squeeze them in towards the body of the fitting. If you don't, they will either damage the plasterboard as they come out, or, gjve you a wack on the fingers (like a mouse trap). Then grasp the main body and twist the bezel again. It should come apart with your hands only, no tools needed.

Not all LED lights have removable bulbs, some you have to change whole unit, I know EU was going the ban the practice and make it so you can renew parts, but we are no longer in the EU and many sold before rules came in.
