blockwork showing through new conservatory walls

Post by dwick72 »

hi all
I had a new conservatory built back in sept. It has a brick outter wall, insulation then a block inner wall, plastered with wicks 60 bonding coat and then a skimmed top coat. Recently in the cold weather the block work in some places is showing through but not the mortar line just the block itself.

Being new built and by a decent long standing company I'm wondering is there a damp issue or is it just a long drying out process as the weather has been cold and damp since the start date of the project. I have had a demidifier running in there for a week now and some days there are a few blocks showing through in the same places and other warmer days they are not. Its becoming frustrating as it just never seems dry completely and were months in now.

It's usually down to the different densities of the blocks and the mortar, it'll probably go away given time.
