Asbestos on ceiling?

Post by dantru272 »

Hi everyone,
New to this forum. I started removing wood chip wallpaper from our ceiling and underneath is a sort of textured paint. The peaks are only 1-2mm high but I'm concerned it may contain asbestos. We had an artex wall which contained crysotile which we had removed. if anyone has any ideas as to whether we should get this tested too? In the photo you can see the wood chip, the paint and a little ceiling boards beneath.
Grateful for all thoughts.
Thanks

Get a home test kit and find out. Should only be about £20 ish.

Or get it sent to a lab, so you get a certificate / proper proof? We did and had a great service with the company we used. They were excellent. The more samples you send the cheaper it gets, as it's the first sample that costs the most. I think subsequent samples were a fiver. So have a good think about anywhere else you might one testing. I'll see if I can find my thread with details of who I used...

This one covers all of the places I suspected, and some very helpful replies as to which were likely / unlikely:

And here's some info on the company I used:

Good luck

Have it tested is the safest way, I used this company link below twice in the last few weeks for ceiling and vinyl, they give good service and advice
