IP65 LED strip in shower recess

Hi all,

I’m in the process of installing an en suite with a shower enclosure. I’ve created a recess inside the shower which will be fully tiled and sealed with moisture board behind.

I’d like to put an LED strip on the rear underside of the recess. What’s the best way to make this as safe as possible? I appreciate water and electric don’t mix so want to make this as safe as possible.

My thoughts were IP65 rated LED strip encapsulated in a housing of some sort with the wires completely behind all tiling and within the void space between the walls then fed up into the loft.

I’d be grateful for your views?

Just don’t do it. Sooner or later it and / or the led driver will fail.

Lights which are ip44 or about rated in ceiling with customer changeable bulbs is the only solution that makes any sense

The transformer will be in the loft so that’s not an issue and the strip will be fairly easily replaceable with a bit of poking around as I will have direct access from the loft.

How will that work? If it is tiled and sealed how will you access the LED strip?

Did you know you can get IP66 rated LED strip?

IP66 means its waterproof, so you could safely put it in the shower. (Nope not joking)

I was going to leave a small gap in the top right but sealed with silicone so it’s easily removed but also waterproof..

IP66 sounds like an option
