Chased plasterboard on stud wall

Post by TadC4 »

Hi, we have just had a radiator moved on a stud wall. The plumber cut a 8" high by 1" wide hole in the plasterboard at each end of the radiator for the new pipework, please see photo. (And yes, the pipe is ever so slightly proud of the surface). How do I go about making this look approximately good please?
Thanks in advance

You can do it by letting some plasterboard patches in. You need to cut some offcut plasterboard to fit the gaps fairly closely. With screws acting as handles and using some gypsum-based adhesive (coving adhesive is good) manoeuvre the patches in and either tape or hold them in position until the adhesive grips. The screws will help you align and hold the patches in place. When it has gone off remove the screws and fill and make good.

Look in any builders yard there are always broken boards laying around that they are happy to have a few quid for.
