Outside Light
Hi,
Please can I ask for some help with connections. I have recently installed a new lighting cable (downstairs) which is waiting to be connected to the main board. I have 3 wires going to a new outside light (no sensor). Line in, line out and switch. New outside light has 1 connector block in the back.
So am I correct in thinking the I need to connect as follows:
Line in/out Brown to COM (Switch)
Line in/out Blue together in a connection (thinking wago) and then out to light
L1 Brown to light
Electrician will be checking all connections before. I have asked him enough questions already!
Thank you for any help.

Definitely not, no, no, no, and we're missing some information here.
If no sensor, where's the switch for it? Or is this what you're asking about, not very clearly?
Who installed the cable, what colours are the cores, can't be brown blue brown at the light.
Where's the other end of the cable, what's in the DB awaiting connection?
Post a picture of the connector block on the back of the light fitting.
And the bare cable.
Suggest you get your electrician to do it, don't try to pre-empt what he will do.
Oh, I think I see what you're asking now.

OK, you've got a twin & earth cable from the DB to the switch location - brown to COM, blue to wago, earth wire (with green/yellow sleeve) to brass terminal in the back box (or another wago if there isn't one).
T&E cable to the light, at the switch - brown to L1, blue to wago, earth to terminal.
At the light, brown to L, blue to N, earth to E.

Thank you for the reply acro_iris.
I have a light circuit. and the outside light is within this. I have a line in (twin and earth) line out (twin and earth). As the outside light does not have a sensor then I thought it would be best to add a switch inside to turn the light on and off like you would with a light inside. The outside light has 1 terminal block in the back for L N E.
So from what I read in your reply I have the right idea in connections!

Where you confused me was "3 wires to outside light" then "line in/line out" going in the same connections.
If in doubt, please trust your electrician.
