I'm predicting Italy to score between the 19th and the 24th minute, and then shut up shop, and I can see Sterling getting clattered relentlessly from start to finish.

I'm hoping it will be different, but I've not seen enough to believe that England can handle professional winners like Italy.

I know some of you hate everything football, so bugger off and start a needlework topic!

I dare to hope England can do it, in fairness the last two games were played well. I was reading that all Europe (and probably Scotland as usual) want us to lose so for that reason alone I hope they can do it. I must say that the Tour de France has been a right upset this year with many of the riders abandoning after the most terrible series of crashes. The high point, hardly reported in the papers, is that Mark Cavendish has come back from the wilderness and won sprint stage finishes four times and now has equaled Eddy Merckx for 32 stage wins. Now that is an achievement.

I was disappointed in the result. Penalties are England's downfall and once it was 1:1 after extra time my heart dropped. One thing that makes me angry is that these blokes are paid fortunes and I think it is a disgrace to mess up on a penalty like that. FFS even as bloody old and f*ck as I am I could have scored for Christ's sake. Rashford should focus on penalties, not on bloody school meals.

You're wasting your time wine~o: there's another forum I use which has several football haters on it, I can guarantee that if I start a topic about football, they will all jump in at the earliest opportunity.

I'm a cricket man personally but I like to see England win whatever they play, although I might draw the line at synchronised swimming..

I'd love to see the England management paperwork on the effectiveness of each player at penalty shots - just to make sure that the top 5 penalty takers were actually the ones made to take them. And, if not, why not?

that shirt pulling was canny bad like. but thats what teams like italy are specialists at. tactical yellows.

i was absolutely f*ck gutted like. been class watching the matches at the pub again with friends. downside was having to go to the pub at 4 oclock on sunday to get a chair haha

when we scored early on we had to go for another one but sadly it was not to happen. however... with this group of players and another year or so to develop.... we would have to be in with a shout of the semi finals at the world cup in 2022 which i think is later on in the year

Our goal was from free play and a clean shot on goal, Italy's was scruffy at best and lucky.

Yes, That Shaw goal was worthy of Roy of the Rovers. The Italian goal was through poor defence and an opportune kick rather than a skilful set piece. On another point I notice that we now have more box-ticking women commentators. Why do they sound like a wife who has adopted her husband's sport just to be included?
