Electricity Prices
There's a new round of prices rises due imminently and talk of four suppliers going bust this coming week.
This is making it difficult to assess our annual (forthcoming) payments as no site seems to want to offer estimates until something is sorted re the businesses going bust and the prices rises that haven't yet been announced.
Out of curiosity - and for those that actually know - can 'you' tell me how much you pay per kWhr and who with (currently). Are 'you' going to be affected by the companies going out of business?
For the record, we currently pay 19p/kWhr (EON) and use 14,000kWhr/year.

The problem with energy pricing is that its almost impossible to get an "accurate" comparison because standing charges vary and also it seems few people actually know what there "real" usage is.
Couple those facts with the unpredictable British weather and theres a perfect storm of costs that can't be forecast.
Then there are the users who don't know what appliances use what energy and don't let anybody let you think Smart Meters will help in any way.
14,000 kwhr / year sounds a lot so do you heat using electric?

Our energy supply in UK is sliding into abyss , recent events prove wind and solar can’t be relied upon , gas is finite and subject to others turning of the tap , electricity to some extent the same a small fire stopping supply from France , bet they are in no rush to sort that out . Nuclear we don’t like and it takes years to build , so I can see the kettle no working in the near future as we go headlong for electric cars and electric heating in the form of heat pumps . Price might become the least of our worries.

Ours is one that has just gone bump.
We are currently paying £0.152/kWhr and using about 7000pa but that includes a home business.
Time to look at all our appliances and usage me thinks.

That's a good price given I can't find anything under 19p/kWhr.....
Main heating is woodstove (I live in a forest so around £50/year for fuel ) but we have freezers on the premises (11 at he moment) that make up the majority of our costs.
Too true. I've now got three gensets on site (looking for a fourth) in preparation for the blackout(s). Converting one of the to LPG this week too - I want three different fuel options to cover all bases. Worried much?

Yeah - that really bust me knitting - it's like finding a phone plan - as good as impossible to make comparisons. We need legislation to allow simple assessment like, for example, a straight definition on pence/kWhr (everything taken into account).
Another annoyance is the demand for Smart Meter use to get a decent rate. Smart meters don't work 'in the middle of nowhere'.

My Octopus 2 year fixed DD monthly is:- Elec s/c 21.15p day 17.57 kWh, annual estimate 1700.. Gas s/c 20p day, 3.17 kWh estimate 7000.
Though I have to say, the quote in May 2021 was very slightly higher than they are billing me
Initially they DD me almost double what I was averaging but having reached a credit of £130, I manually adjusted the DD amount, I got a £50 recommendation credit for going straight to them and not a switch Co. and am waiting for a friend to pay their 1st bill to get another £50 credit and they will get the same. Regulars can pm me for the link!

I've got £460 in credit! and pay £200/month but I also have a horrible suspicion they underestimated by consumption so I'm leaving it until they renew - sent them my meter reading the other day just to be sure.
Not sure who to believe right now - we get assurances that 'all will be well' over prices but also scare stories about shortages and potential blackouts
I'm more than sure we're being gaslighted over it all though - so preparing for the worst.

There's a couple of tariffs on here that are well below 18p per unit. Of course you'll have to put up with them being called:- GREEN ENERGY.
I'm not exactly sure what my kwh rate is at the moment, it was 12p when I joined, I opted for the lowest unit rate plus a standing charge because of my 7Kw kiln.

One day it will all be firewood.

Green energy?!!!
Just about every offer I see for a new tariff includes the statement "all our energy is 100% renewable" - which is an outright lie as only a fraction of the UKs energy production is generated as such. How they're allowed to get away with such a statement is a mystery however I suspect there will be a 'get out clause' that stops them being banned from making such statements.
I'm not 'worried' as such - which is why I've just spent another £1k on another genset........ plus bought in a load of LPG bottles and 1 ton of coal!

All energy is green - coal and oil is a product of solar manufacturing and storage (if you believe the standard models of creation) so to claim fossil fuels aren't green is utter BS.
I note with some cynicism that this winters energy issues have been compounded by the 'lack of wind' during the summer - add to that the lack of solar in winter and (potentially) more blocking high pressure areas and the perfect storm of shortages will be upon us.
I expect .gov is secretly powering up a sh1t load of diesel generators and/or opening old coal power stations as we speak.

Green energy thing is a scam, energy companies get to buy energy tokens for renewables, this makes sense because you energy is not a constant thing, you can't sell solar overnight for example so I get the idea that you effectively bulk buy your "green" energy. Problem is they sell more green energy tokens than actual green energy exists, so it's just marketing b*llox.

The BFB movie maker Michael Moore - an avid supporter of climate change - exposed the green energy scam in a video he made and also made 'enemies' of those that originally supported him for this stance - pretty damned fickle these climate loons.....
I wish people would demonstrate against climate change in the way XR do - block roads (peacefully of course!) in protest of the SCAM. Blocking the acccess to the COP meeting in Glasgow would be a great way to bring 'our' side of the climate debacle to attention!
