929/808 Alarm

Hi

I am house alarm novice, so simple terms please.

After nearly 20 years since moving, I decided to make use of the alarm. It's got 929 keypad and 808 board. It's all wired with sensors, internal and external sirens.

I changed the PSW a while ago. When mains off then on again, the internal siren goes on (not the external) and can be turned off by entering PSW and enter key. This is all What I know.

When try to set Zone A, (psw followed by A on keypad) I get the message "missing battery". It's got Yausa NP12 7AH rechargeable battery dated 2000. I took it off reads 0.6 Volts, cells are dry and dark so don't think charging is an option?

Will the alarm go live and kicking if I replace the battery?

Does this alarm allow to be connected to dial mobile using simm card (not land line)?

PSW? (Do you mean password? )

The battery is being charged by the panel all the time, but after being charged for 21years it's cooked, so yes, time for a new one.
Will it spring back into life? who knows? it should, but there may be other faults, change the battery and we can find out.
The panel is a scantronic, most have the option for plug on signalling device, but the panel itself can not signal.
Picture of the inside of the panel would be great.

Just saying............it doesn't have a password, it has a code. No, not being pedantic, it has a user code(s) and an engineer code. All the info refers to code.

Any chance of an in focus close up of the two labels?

and yes, the panel itself has no onboard signalling, you see those two sets of 8 pins, that is where the signalling plugs on.

Yes I have been entering the user code which I changed myself. I am not sure the engineering code if it's the default or changed which think can be reset.

I don't know about the signalling plug and what does it do

The default engineer code is 0,7890
As I said, the TWO sets of 8 pins (one set of 8 pins is next to the label I asked you to take a picture of) is for the signalling to be plugged onto.

I am not aware of any signalling device that is directly compatible with the panel. (You would want something that accepts a SIM card) I am not saying no such device exists, I am saying I don't know of one. (I will look, but don't hold your breath.)

First thing is to get it working, I shall order battery tomorrow and take it from there.

Q. When I turn the mains of and on again, only the inside siren comes on, why not the outside?

Simple answer, your external sounder has a flat battery.

You can buy new batteries, but it does depend on which battery your sounder has, and is it replaceable, if it were me, I would change the whole siren.

FYI. I also found one of the things that "plug on" to your alarm.

This is the flip side, you see the two rows of connectors, they are what plug on to your panels two sets of 8 pins.
The sticky pads are there as this could be used as a "Stand alone" unit

This unit is called a redcare. (No you don't want it, it won't work for you anyway.)
