Here's me expecting delivery of an order and advised by the sender that it is due 'today' only to get an email from Royal Mail that states:

"We've received a request not to deliver mail to the property your item is addressed to today."

Who TF made that request? Not me or Mrs. So who is 'delaying' our mail - and why?

Seems odd they had a request? Have you a dog? ANY dog? Have you asked (replied) to Royal Mail?

Be careful it is not a scam as I had a similar email when expecting a package from eBay. That was a Royal Mail package and I had heard that if you respond to the non-delivery email they ask for a small delivery charge in order to get your card details. The package turned up the next day so I don't think it was related.

Not a scam - I checked the origin of the message and it even included details of the order I was receiving so it's genuine (unless the PO tell me otherwise of course).

No dogs here. I made a complaint to RM to find out WHO made the request but won't get a rely for three days. The bits will probably turn up tomorrow.

This isn't about the speed of delivery - I couldn't really care less so long as the bits DO arrive - it's about the potential for someone else (no, not you!) to make changes to 'my property' without my permission.

The postie couldn't be bothered to drive 3 miles into your forest, then hit the wrong button on his gizmo.

That's the kind of attitude we're starting to expect from RM these days - one of their staff (female) is reknowned for NOT bringing parels she feels she can't lift (anything over 3 ounces if you ask me) and they stay in the depot until a guy does the run.

But I'm pizzed that 'she' (or anyone else for that matter) can arbitrarily change 'my' request status for delivery.

I think it more likely that their gizmo gives a choice of reasons for failing to reach target ("96% of mail reaches destination on time") and they hit the wrong button.

Also surprised that in a location as remote as yours there are several staff. Not as remote, I have the same guy (lives in the village) 5 days out of six, when he's on a day off there's two others. One bothers to drive down the track, the other puts the mail in the box at the gate, unless it won't fit in.

If we're away, the regular chap keeps all our mail in his van until the day of our return - no need to ask RM to hold it, just tell him the date. Also, he's told me he's satellite tracked, if he spends too much time nattering he'll get asked why his van was in one place for so long.
