Hi. I bought this set back in 2011 from US since it was at least twice as expensive to buy locally.
Does this set still hold up by today's standards? It has NiCAD batteries...

Does My Old Cordless Screwdriver/ Drill Set Still Hold Up?
What do you mean by "still hold up"? If it still works as it should and the batteries charge and hold their charge then i would say the answer should be yes. No need to replace it just because it's only ten years old. In my workshop i have a couple of 14.4v dewalts with nicads still in use one of which dates from 2005 . The batteries don't seem to have the life they used to but i have several which compensates for that.

Use it till the drill or the batteries die, then upgrade to Lithium. No need to do anything now if it still works.

You can buy an adaptor for these that converts from Nicad to Lithium. I have one in my workshop. However, you will need to buy a lithium battery and charger.

......Or you can buy compatible Nicad batteries.

I'm led to believe DeWalt still make original Nicad batteries which are due to be phased out spring 22. I'd buy a couple of sets of bushes as well just as spares.
if I were you though I'd just buy a new lithium drill with a couple of batteries.
