I'm just about to fit a couple of door linings before the carpets are fitted.
What's a good allowance for the carpet and underlay?
I don't know the exact carpet being fitted so it needs to be an average. Is 20mm too little?
Allowing a few mm at the top, I was thinking of fitting the top about 2005mm from the floor (1981mm door)
Just wondered what the pros use as a go to figure?
Cheers

Door lining before carpet
ive just fitted a house full of door linings. the original openings were reaaaaaalllly tight and the client had to get everything from howdens.... dont ask... so the linings were all 27.5mm thick. i ended up running them all through my planer to reduce them to about 20mm ish..
all the heights were different as the floors were all over the place too. the property was a 70's build...
i ended up using a laser to set them so all the heights were the same. but on the upstairs it ended up with one door touching the floor boards when it was closed.
ive gone with 22mm to take off the doors for this particular job but its an experiment at this stage still. the flooring lads were there today so ill see where everything is at maybe tomorrow
