If it is old, bin it, if it isn't old, try White goods forum Click here to go there.

(White goods have evolved and need more than an electrician.)
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Just a thought, count how many times the green light flashes, then google "whirlpool (model number) dishwasher F(number of flashes) fault code"?

My old dish washer if there was a leak you would see a pool of water on the floor, the new one has a sealed base a well and sensor and any leak switches off dish washer until the until well emptied. It seems had I pulled out dish washer and tipped it on it's side it would have run again.

With features like this only some one working on them will now what yours has,

ok thanks I did have a look on youtube ,and the flashes are constant once ive turned it on ,and as there are only two knobs on the front one to stsrt the other settings ,its not digital and the green light ,you can hear the pump working on each pulse,it is emptying ,so thought id ask on here before binning ,as said its old so no point spending to get an engineer out ,may as well just go get a new one
