RCD trip - carpet cleaner

Post by F20283 »

Good evening.

I was using my carpet cleaner at my brother’s flat. After a while it kept tripping the RCD switch.

I’ve used it in my house and my mother’s without incident; does this suggest a problem with my brother’s flat?

Yes, sorry I didn’t write enough information.

Subsequent to it tripping the RCD in my brother’s flat, I’ve used it in my house, which also has an RCD, without any tripping.

I would say that your brothers house may have a problem with the socket circuit OR the actual RCD may be more sensitive than it should be - which is quite common.

If its the only thing to trip his RCD I would say leave it, but if other devices trip the RCD then some investigation is required
