Firehawk FH700HIA

Post by arco_iris »

Posted in Lounge as doesn't fit anywhere else - anybody know?

A profoundly deaf widowed aunt of my wife (comfortably off, 92) has died after a very short illness, SWMBO is executor & so I get roped in. She had a great deal of good quality appliances, furniture, clothing, etc.

Not been in her bedroom before, I find above named FH700HIA unit - plugged in, live and 'Test' button works. It sits on bedside table, flashes a very bright strobe light and vibrates a pad under the pillow (in the event of fire).

Looking online to see if it's worth anything to anybody (charity shops don't seem to like anything with a plug on) I see that it supposedly only works when wi-fi interconnected to Firehawk mains smoke alarms, which she didn't have. Only a battery CO alarm by the gas fire.

Gawd knows where it came from (£80 new) but absolutely useless on it's own, and they're not fetching anything on fleabay, seems a shame to bin it though.

I believe it connects by RF not WI-FI, as you say it is designed to connect to other firehawk devices, when they activate so does the unit you have, it is meant for deaf folk.
Without any firehawk device to connect to, it is useless, it also has a 10 year lithium backup battery, which is ? old, sorry, somethings have to go into the bin, this is one of them, what else can you do with it. (Unless Big Clive wants it to "take to bits")
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

the local council round my way have had loads of bother with batteries causing fires when everything gets crushed in the backs of their bin waggons. so be a good idea to remove the battery first. all the bins have no batteries allowed stickers on them now
