Black Mold

Post by Onar »

Hello guys,

I have found Black Mold on areas of silicone around my bath.

I have tried vinegar, bleach, baking soda etc.

Nothing has worked so far.

Can anyone offer any advice on this please?.

Thank you.

If bleach doesn't work then you need to replace the silicone. All mould cleaners are based on bleach and are just rebadged and expensive versions of the cheap stuff you stick in your toilet.

Paint on some thick bleach, leave it sit for a few hours, if that doesn't work, nothing will.

Well, whilst this might be true I have found that the HG works far better than household bleach. Perhaps it is a stronger concentrate?

HG is about the same strength as most "thick" bleach you can buy. It is stronger than thin bleach but it's not just strength that matters, it's contact time. You can simply apply thin bleach 2 or 3 times and still save yourself an awful lot of money or just use the thick bleach (you can't spray that though). There are also (slightly dangerous) ways to make bleach more effective but that needs to be done with extreme caution and excellent ventilation.

I tried both bleach and vinegar, I was anxious to get rid of it.

So I tried HG as Dewaltdisney mentioned.

HG did a wonderful job after multiple applications leaving mold covered with kitchen towel to allow soaking.

Thanks to all for advice.
