Some Supermarkets taking the p155

Went to Morrisons at the weekend, needed 3L of veggie oil (deep fat fryer) shocked to find that they were charging £ 2.49 a Litre for rapeseed oil.

Checked online.

Sainsburys. £ 1.75 L

Tesco £ 1.75 L

Asda only available in 3 L bottles,..£ 5.00 equals £ 1.67 L

Even Waitrose were "only" £ 2.30 L

Now I know that the situation with Russia/Ukraine has affected the availability of sunflower oil, but less than 5% of our rapeseed oil production comes from Russia. None from Ukraine.

Some Supermarkets seem to be taking the P155 to say the least.

EDIT> Just to add before the Russian invaded Ukraine A litre of cooking oil (sunflower or rapeseed) was about £ 1.20 / £ 1.30 per Litre.

Supermarkets are always moving prices - this is nothing new. The week before last our favourite squash in Sainsburys was £1.85 per bottle - we bought 1 bottle. Last week it was £1.25 so we bought many bottles

yes its done frequently sell at higher price for a few weeks then make a big fuss about 25% off bring it back to normal
like asda gold coffee 1.95 then 2.50 then 2.95 over a few weeks then price lock for the rest off the year at £2.50 :dunno:

as an aside
they are offering a invitation to trade where the contract can be changed without notice in other words you select to do a transaction and select complete and pay you are locked in to that transaction unless there are further conditions like "price at time off delivery "--- " price we feel you should pay " but you can reject these conditions and not trade under those conditions

Amazon has just revealed they're increasing their Prime subscription by £1 a month. They made a profit of over 400Bn last year

my missus pays ours I don't think it's too bad value we order quite a bit on there mainly have it for the free delivery

I think the fuel cost for delivery drivers is reflected in the increase. We buy a lot from Amazon over the year and the Prime next day is an excellent service. You also have to factor in the saving of your fuel, car parking etc if you went to buy the stuff locally yourself if you could find it. I have never added up what the postage cost would have been using the normal delivery service but I am sure Prime covers the amount and we get the free video in with it.

S-E :- Must say I did that on instinct and wished I had gone annual before, but I was seeing how much I was buying with prime delivery and forgot to switch until I got this notification; however I enjoy the included prime videos and occasionally download a 'free' prime reading, paid up a year at old price £79 and got a 56 pence refund on last month.

Not really a tip mate. Most sensible people would do that.
