Went with the wrong cordless system, Go for ALDI over LIDL

Buying by post is expensive because of the postal charges
I've been following the price of Aldi batteries on eBay and some go for well over £50 - they cost £30 in the store (when you can get them). They have increased in value more than gold!
Don't take it personally......

Getting to be an alternative to Bitcoins, perhaps.

Aldi 20v tools go on sale more often But parkside sell their batteries more often, I bought an adapter for parkside batteries to aldi tools.
Any details of the adapters you use, please.

It's not cheap. I paid some £35 for this. There is business in Italy that 3d prints them - as you might expect they're not that in demand so they're not mass produced.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165311945184

Just a few bits to bear in mind.

1) ALDI batteries are 20v/40v, lidl ones are just 20v. Some aldi tools are 40V and require the 40V mode of their own battery to use.
2) There is a youtube video where someone took apart a lidl battery and found that the cells are not individually balanced charged - it's made on a budget and it's a pretty common thing to not balance charge individual cells as the cells transfer the voltage between each other (as long as they're all healthy and not defective). There is an issue with LIDL parkside tools in that there is no overcharge/overdrain cut off in the battery packs - bizarrely it is done at the tool level. The lidl tool has the pcb in it which will stop it asking for power from lidl battery if it sees the battery is below certain voltage.

So You have to be super careful with these adapters and not drain them down. If it gets to the lowest power setting on the light indicator - put it back on charge.

I still use it - with caution. Because I think it's far more dangerous to have too many different types of li-on batteries knocking about all over the place - not used for months or years which might be overcharged or undercharged in storage and cause accidents.

Been waiting all year for this!!

parkside 20v systems back on sale come next week Thursday

Cordless circular saws, heat guns. angle grinder, polisher, multi cutter, jigsaw, drill driver, paddle mixer

https://www.lidl.co.uk/c/diy-essentials/c2422/w2

Also 20v gardening tools as well.
weed wackers, hedge trimmer, chainsaws, polesaws etc.

https://www.lidl.co.uk/c/garden-tools/c2423/w2

Get in early, scalpers will go for these and try and get hold of all the stock and sell at 2x the price on ebay.

The circular saw disappeared off the shelves very quickly last year.

I've been collecting Parkside (Lidl) tools for several years. Mostly the 20 volt system. All the 20 volt batteries (2ah & 4ah) fit any of the tools in the range & I've had no issues with the batteries. I think the 4ah ones cost around £25 and the 2ah ones around £13. Both are interchangeable. All come with a 3 year warranty & the few times I've had minor issues, they've exchanged without any quibbles. The batteries seems to be stocked every couple of months, along with each new batch of tools.

For a beginner, I'd recommend the Lidl gear, especially the impact drivers which are around £25-30. Amazing value. In the past year I've started to acquire more Bosch & Mikita tools, which are clearly better quality but that quality comes at around four times the price & I wouldn't say they're four times as good. My philosophy is that I buy Lidl for general use & if I need precision for a certain task, I buy a major brand. For larger tools (Mitre/Tablesaw) I started off with Screwfix's Titan. The mitre saw is fine for my needs but I replaced the tablesaw with a Bosch as the accuracy was just not there. I suspect the Lidl tablesaw (etc...) would be questionable too. But for drills, drivers, circular saws, sabre saws, sanders etc... they're much better than their price would indicate.

Rooster, I would guess that all the required tools have now been acquired, since the last post was 5 months ago. Always best to check the date before you post.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

My mistake. I do think there is utility in sharing experiences on forums like this as people do use them for research, reading through old threads. Well I know I do :)
