Radiator/Towel Rail Leaking

Post by roggrandad »

Hi can someone please help, I have a radiator/Towel rail in the bathroom that has started to leak from the push fit arrangement with grub screws where the towel
Rail joins with the main body of the radiator the top. Both ends leaking I thought there would be o rings on the top rail to replace.
I have taken the grub screws out but the curved top rail will not pull out.
Any help would be much appreciated .
Thank you.

S.fix stock similar # 61343 and many QA were raised; in Dec 2022 one asked as to whether O rings were still used and the reply:
The top bar on this item 3-Column Steel Bathroom Radiator 952 x 659mm Chrome 1699BTU is welded and is a very reliable towel rail and a very easy fit.
BUT similar QA in 2021 answer:These are threaded connections which are sealed by rubber washers.
Are you certain that was a grub screw and not a bleed screw?
Depending on the age of your unit might determine whether it is welded or 'O' ring and screw collar as there cannot be too many different manufacturers.
Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Then it is locking an internal spigot and as mentioned in the old QA there is a thread and as the curved top rail could not be rotated, there is a chance the collar rotates, but search me for the guts to try it, especially as the 'O' rings might not be available; I would need to study all the parts at that top end, those that attach to the wall to determine which are free to rotate..
Reason enough they went to a welded assembly; you might S.fix for an answer!
