We watched with interest the docudrama of Noele Gordon on ITVx. Crossroads was a big soap in the 70s and despite the hammy acting, the wobbly sets, and the puerile storylines it was watched by 17m viewers. Helena Bonham Carter plays Noele and I steeled myself as woke left footer Russel T Davies wrote the script. It works well despite the added tick boxes and it is worth a watch if this show was a part of your past. There is a parallel documentary also on which depicts the real story and it is very good too. It seems that Noele had career protection from Val Parnell who was her lover in real life, once he was gone she got sacked. Never mind the 17 million viewers axe the series, nothing changes does it?
