I never watch this rubbish but I caught an article on the results of this year's awards. All Quiet on the Western Front, which was on Netflix, won and although it was a grizzly remake and captured the book well it was not that great in reality. Apparently The Banshees of Inisherrin (or something) a pointless boring luvvie rubbish film in a poverty stricken Irish village where two chumps do not talk to each other. Yeah, I am going to pay £20 to see that at the flicks. Colin Farrel, an insufferable prick, was up for an award but lost out and his face was like thunder as he thought it was in the bag. Top Gun was nominated but came nowhere unsurprisingly. My attention wandered after reading part and the rest is pants.
Mrs D and I used to go to the pictures quite regularly but I never see a film I want to see these days, let alone drive out, pay £20 plus, and then come home disappointed. The best stuff these days is streamed.

I quite enjoyed The Banshees of Inisherrin. Not my usual choice of movie but thought I'd watch it to see what the hype was about and was pleasantly surprised.
I rarely watch movies nowadays. I find most TV series more enjoyable.

I haven't been to a cinema in years. I used to have one of those cinema cards with my ex when I lived in Durham. We went to Boldon quite regularly. They wanted an arm and a leg for their sweets and soft drinks so we used to stop at Asda next door and stock up. A few times I was asked what was in my bag. I always replied "medical stuff" and they looked uncomfortable so let me in

Mrs d'A and I started to watch The Banshees of Inisherrin. Mrs d'A though it was brilliant but I kept dozing off so that tells you what I thought of it.
The problem I now have is that after watching Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923, almost everything else seems to disappoint by comparison. I found the same with the Godfather trilogy - I have found all other Mafia films to be disappointing.

Me neither, or any other "awards" show for that matter. I have a problem with nominations and "winners" being selected by a group of people, no matter what they are "experts" in. Far better for everything to be a public vote (very easy to do in the digital age) rather than rely on a bunch of old farts, old fannies, and all the other luvvie types to choose who they think should win "Best Actor", etc.
