Changing Danfoss 2 port Valve to Honeywell
I have a Danfoss 2-port valve model HPA2 (which has suspect motor issue)
I can get Honeywell 2-port valves & motors much cheaper & easier as local Trade place stocks Honeywell.
Is there a direct equivalent Honeywell motor activator? ....... so I could just swap the synchronous motor over ? or would I need to swap the whole valve ?
Trade counter said there is also a generic synchronous motor that fits either ? .... they any good ?
Ideally, I would obtain a complete Honeywell valve now, but just swap over the motor now ..... and change valve later when the system can be drained down.

Changing Danfoss 2 port Valve to Honeywell

Would that not depend on the build quality of said generic motor? I thought the whole idea of something being generic was that I (for example) can make one, and my neighbour (example) can make one too, neither being original, but both being generic.
I guess it is down to how much you want to spend, ideally you should change the whole valve, but as you said, you would need to drain it down.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

OK ignore the comment on Generic …. Is the Honeywell & Danfoss motor a direct swap ?

It is a 3/4" valve body and a Honeywell will not fit. Might be any synchro valve motor will work, differences usually wire end fittings, wattage, cog material and RPM but from heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk you can get the actuator for a reasonable price

OK ... if Honeywell motor won't fit, I I'll swap the whole thing out, been told Danfoss are trouble so no point changing it for another one.

Mmm, the Honeywell 'actuator' will not fit on the Danfoss valve body, the generic or Honeywell synchro might fit the actuator.
Swap the whole thing! likely the new valve you choose will be compression 22mm fit so check your pipe plumbing to see if it is 3/4" with BSP thread, a compression is easily ident by the way the nut faces per picture.
Have had plenty of Honeywell failures in service, mate of mine had a plumber fit a complete new valve, but had same trouble and did not realise the new one was faulty until he had changed other components and spent half a day doing so. I'd take a look under the Danfoss cover at the access and connectors and compare to a synchro available in the market place, but that is miser me.

Just change the sychron. About a tenner and will last as long as a new one would.
New motor and a couple of wago connectors and it's done - some come with new crimps or spin ons but wagos are great for it!
