I don't know whether it's coincidence or a weak part but when I took my Rotak 650 out today, I too found the height adjuster to be broken.
This is the part on mine which broke: 4059952531267 O217
Part no. 43/6 on this schematic. It's a plastic moulding, which is definitely sub optimal for the task & it's criminally expensive; £29.97 from the only places which list it!
Shouldn't cost more than £5 IMO, as it's a simple part.
I'm going to try making a warranty claim, as the mower is less than 2 years old.

After a dig around, I've found what appears to be the same part for £3.45!
Add the usual preamble to this & you'll find it: ransomsparesDOTcoDOTuk/parts/brands/bosch/lawnmowers/advancedrotak 670 (3600hb9272)/button/870088.htm

Well done on tracking down the part.
The website mentioned I have used several times, most notably in the last week, dispatch & delivery was a bit slow (padded envelope via Evri) but the item ordered fixed my problem. Well over a week to obtain, ten minutes to fit, fixed my issue.

Did you have any luck taking yours apart? I have removed the top 4 screws but don't know what next without feeling like I'll damage something.

fixed it, the button was snapped in two, i used epoxy resin two part glue, left it over night to cure, its a delicate part and should be made of metal, i also used hot glue on the inside of button to reinforce, you do not need to take off the shroud that covers the push bars unless you have broken the Linkage part or the spring thats attached to it.
if the button is broke, its just the four top screws on that black casing, there are little clips on its edge by bars, start there with a flat screwdriver both sides, its should then just lift off, to get at the button, under the black casing you will see four plastic prongs holding it in place, gently push them in its will release the button, if your lucky you may just getaway with gluing it like i did, or order the part https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165542264212

Once you've fitted the new button to the top cover, how do you replace the top cover and ensure that the button has engaged with the height adjuster?
Thanks in advance.

that height button should engage with the riser spring plastic part that on the base of the machine, it white if i remember> with the mower pusshed flat or on full up height, you will see where the button goes in a slot, do this very gently or you will snap that button, after that the top casing should go back flush, needs a little push on both sides...gently, good luck, let us know how you get on.

Managed to fit it....eventually!
The trick is to refit the top cover (without the button and spring) with only the height display in place.
Once the top cover is in place, raise the mower to max setting and temporarily hold it in that position [I used a block of wood under the frame(not the wheels) to keep it at max height. It is then possible to put the button and spring into the slot and jiggle it down until the tabs on the button lock into place.

i tried that way originally the liitle legs that clip in can snap easily, when i first tried it one leg snapped off, i used a glue gun on the inside nr leg and glued back, so far so good, well done for fitting it though.
