An unusual event today, quite trivial really but it caused Mrs D some angst. We were sitting on a bench outside my granddaughter's school today waiting to collect her. She came out and we made our way back to the car. We have a tight turnaround as she has to be at her dancing by 4.15pm so we are always on the trot. When we get back to my sons's she realises that she has left the shopping bag on the bench with stuff she bought from Superdrug plus other stuff amounting to about £30. Superdrug is by the bench and the school entrance, so Mrs D decides that it will surely have been stolen. I placate her doom and tell her to have faith in the honesty of the people in Upminster so on the way to dancing I park on the yellow lines whilst she pops into Superdrug to see if had been handed in. Sure enough some kind soul saw the Superdrug stuff and took it back into the store where a grateful Mrs D got it back.
I was so pleased that there are still honest folk about, I am sure that it does not happen everywhere. I have to say it is usually me who leaves bags behind and I am rarely trusted after leaving a bag of our stuff at an ancient monument in Greece. Some Brits saw the M&S bag and I met them as I went back to find it. They said we knew it must be you from the bag...big laughs, bollocking from Mrs D, no bags for 30 years. I will have to check her in the future now in this role reversal.

I handed a phone in at the gym couple of weeks ago. Ive found so many phones in my time and reunited owners with them. Found a purse the other month on park and looked at address on license in there, was round the corner so popped it round to them. Building up good karma to negate all the bad karma!

late last summer we played football at the pitch we have played at the last 10 years. one of the lads a massive fitness freak who does triathlons for fun and gets amazing times turned up to play with his apple airpod things in. he took them out and put them beside one of the goals. we played our hour game and changed from our boots back into trainers and left. about a half hour later so 9:30pm by now i got a call of him saying he had left them beside the goal. I rang the centre and spoke to one of the staff. told him where they were and could he go and collect them. he rang back and said he could not see them.
next morning i called in and spoke to the young lass who is i think assistant manager. she said she would accompany me down onto the pitch and we both could have a look.
litterally set foot onto the hallowed turf and we both spotted them at the other end of the pitch.
the lazy t*at must not have got off his chair to go and have a look

When we were at Universal Theme Park in Florida a couple of years ago we went on a Harry Potter ride which was basically a roller coaster ride. It went at rate of knots and my small Nikon camera flew out of my pocket on one of the hard curves that produced a lot of G. I was not so worried about the camera but the SD card had a lot of photos from the holiday. The base area of the ride was covered in thick bushes and other vegetation, plus it was fenced off. A ride assistant told me to report the loss to guest services which I did as we left the park, much to the amusement of my scathing family. About a month later, now back home, a package arrived with my camera recovered, posted free of charge, and thankfully still holding the SD card. The camera was knackered but as it was old technology I was not concerned the SD card was good and I was able to download all the photos.
I was amazed that they found it and had taken the trouble to send it back to me in the UK. I wrote a letter of thanks and complimented them on their excellent customer care.

If the lessons of history teach us anything it is that nobody learns the lessons that history teaches us.
