Just got a ridiculous quote for External Rendering of house
Simple answer, get another quote.
Reason: As with any "how much is" question on any forum, too many variables. We have no idea where you are, no idea what is involved, no idea the actual area (in this case) of the job, is it (in this case) only half the house (not uncommon for only the top half of house) and suppose person A says "Yep, ball park figure of £7K" and person B says "£9k tops" you don't know who is right, and you STILL have to get a trades person to come round and look.

Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Thanks for your response.
Greater London, semi detached, so that's three sides that need rendering, I believe it 74 square meres.
I looked at Checkatrade lower and higher costs estimates. Sure I can get more quotes, just needed a 'real world' example.

As an example a few years ago a chap I know had a detached four bed home done with Monocouche render and that was £15k. I guess when you add up the scaffolding, three guys working plus the bags of Monocouche you can see how it can get to that. In your case the render has to be hacked off and disposed of in skips, scaffold presumably and the labour. Let me suggest a cheaper option to explore and that is cement board cladding. I go on a bit about this but the guy above could have had his house done for £5k at the time. Have a look at this video to get an idea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osbfJWV2vFY Not only is it cheaoer it can transform the look of your hime and add value.

sure a mate of mine told me £65 per square meter is what he charges. however that is sure to be providing scaffolding is in place.
thats a price for my area though and down where you are its sure to be a great deal more like.

The boarding I recommended would be much less. The render would stay up and the mounting rails would be applied on top of it. I am sure it would be much cheaper option and you should get a quote at least.

teams,
teams, why not post a photo of the house, show the areas you intend to render?
What kind of render was quoted for - what kind of render do you have in mind?

id guess that area lived in will massively affect this also.
there is absolute lunatics up here who want jobs doing for litterally pennies. theyd sh*t themselves at how much jobs cost in other parts of the country.
often see d*ck heads on facebook who want quotes for jobs but wont pay ridiculous prices. although these can be a £10 Fuc$ing garden cut.
5 or so years back i told someone id want £40 per door to fit. she said i was a ridiculous price and she couldnt afford that (shes a pharmacist.....) id be double that now per door minimum. another pharmacist lass i know earns £50 per hour....
