I get orange spots when washing clothes. Please see photo. I think it is rust.
I’ve checked there’s no metal in the machine. I have also run a long wash with lemon juice. Neither have solved it.
I read power flushing is the answer to rust elsewhere in the system.
How can I tell if it’s the washing machine or if I need to to power flush?
Thanks

Moved to general diy as not a plumbing problem. SFAIA a powerflush is used on central heating systems to prevent or remove sludge build up in the radiators.

Start using Dettol laundry rinse instead of conditioner. The machine will be cleaned in the process as well as the clothes of any bacterial or fungal presence. We have used it for years

e5c3d4, moderator2 is not wrong, a "powerflush" is for cleaning your central heating system (Pipes and rads) a washing machine gets water via the water mains, so a powerflush would be no use and a waste of money.
Would you do me a favour (and post the results here)
Washing machine off, drum empty.
1) Spin the drum by hand, what did you hear?
2) Stand infront of machine put one hand in towards the top (Like I am showing here)
Gently pull / lift inner stainless steel drum.
Repeat.
Did it move? (Not the whole thing, just the stainless steel inner drum)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
