Ah well that is very frustrating. I hope I haven't made the same mistake...just got a DeWalt impact driver from Toolstation. Big plus is it came with two batteries (making 3 DeWalt batteries now)...meaning I have a lot more options for bare units.

was it this deal
<a href="https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-dcf8 ... ver/p72076" class="skimlinks-unlinked" data-skimwords-word="https%3A%2F%2Fwww.toolstation.com%2Fdewalt-dcf887-18v-xr-cordless-brushless-impact-driver%2Fp72076" data-skim-creative="500005" title="" style="">https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-dcf8 ... /p72076</a>

i use 2ah batts on my combi and impact driver - i think they cam with the multitool, but nice and light and easy to get into awkward places - i think you will like the 3 speed , i used over the weekend, and had just on setting one for some delicate work - where 2 or 3 would have cause issues

YES, I think that is the one.

I've managed to use it a couple of times. Yep the three speed has been really useful. After destroying a bit of wood with the first run, switching it to 1 made life a lot easier.

glad its worked out ok
i think i only used 3 on old bolts , lawnmower blade nuts, and when i put up a fence against a wall and used coach bolts, maybe when i had very long screws into wood
but iu do find the 1 setting on what i would call delicate screwing so useful

with the 887 get yourself a long extension bar say 250mm get yourself a 5mm x100 screw start screwing into say 6x1" on top off say 4"/100mm timber and it will keep going until you have a 10mm hole through the 6"/150mm timber
in other words it has the power to pull the head through the timber and will only stop when the thread has nothing to pull against

ooohhh and dont try this if you need a hole as the screw can only go forward so must pull out through another bit off wood for propultion
