Originally mains operated smoke alarms were put on their own circuit, but it was soon realised that the MCB could trip and no one would know, so smoke alarms are now quite often connected to the lighting circuit, as you can "live without smoke alarms" but you can't live without lights. I suspect that is the case here. :-)

You can also buy Red 1.5mm 3 core and earth for smoke alarms.

those are the people who never test their rcds daily.
